When it comes to buy band saw wheels or Band Saw Blades you should be careful and you need to choose such things thoroughly. A good blade gives better cut and as a result can make your job much easier and safer.

Hook tooth – 10 degrees – best for hard to cut woods. High rake angle can make the blade more aggressive.

Skip tooth – 0° rake angle – better for soft wood. Good for resawing.

If band saw blades have more teeth per inch you will get a smoother cut but the process of cutting will be slower. With fewer TPI you will get a quick process but a rougher finish. At any case remember that you need to have at least 3 teeth in the material at all times. Also try to choose wide band saw blades which provide you with a straighter cut.

Choosing tooth shape you need to pay attention to several things.

1. What material you are going to cut. Take the regular tooth band saw blades in case you want to cut thin materials or make intricate cuts.

2. For cutting soft metals or wood choose a skip tooth blade.

3. For long cuts into plastic, metal or wood it is better to have a hook tooth blade.
Choosing your blade thickness, first determine the diameter of your band saw wheels.
